The mentorship program offers guidance toward new and/or current Bioinformatics majors in their personal and professional objectives. Each UBIC officer is matched with a member, and the pair will share their goals and work together to achieve them.
Teams serve as an incentive to increase member activity and build a proud, intra-club team atmosphere. Four teams, represented by the four nucleotides - Adenosine, Thymine, Cytosine, and Guanine - will earn points through UBIC involvement. Win a prize!
In order to bring the best for our Bioinformatics students, UBIC has a ambitious list of events and activities planned out. Committees will be established as needed, and members will work alongside officers to bring these activities into fruition.
Speaker events will be hosted every two weeks of each quarter. Professors and professionals within the Bioinformatics field will come talk about the work they do. The talks bring in new perspectives and shed light onto the different disciplines within this vast field.
Professional workshops are hosted in order to equip our members with the necessary expertise to achieve their professional goals. Some examples of professional workshops include language learning (Python, Java, R) and resume building.
UBIC promotes philanthropy by giving back to our community. This includes a broad variety of activities, such as high school outreach events, pro-environmental acts like gardening and cleanups, food for the homeless, and many more.
The Olympics is an intra- and inter- club competition designed to foster pride within UBIC and connect with other Bioengineering student organizations. Specific competition events can range from athletics to tests of skill in Bioengineering.
