The name of this Organization shall be the Undergraduate Bioinformatics Club (hereinafter referred to as "UBIC") at the University of California, San Diego (hereinafter referred to as "UCSD").
UBIC shall be a non-profit organization whose purpose is to serve bioinformatics undergraduates by providing resources for students entering the growing discipline; furthering access to job, internship, and research opportunities; facilitating an open forum for discussion, collaboration, and socialization; holding events, programs, and meetings; and acting as a collective voice for bioinformatics students at UCSD.
Any person enrolled as a student at UCSD shall be eligible for membership in UBIC.
Officers shall consist of members of UBIC who are presently enrolled as undergraduate students of UCSD. The group of existing officers of UBIC shall hereinafter be referred to as the "Council." Officer positions shall be created at the discretion of Council, and new officers shall be selected by appointment at the discretion of the Council.
Meetings of the members of UBIC shall be held at fixed times convenient for the current term at the discretion of the Council, and shall consist of not more than one general body meeting (hereinafter referred to as a "GBM") per week.
Amendments to the Constitution shall be made at the discretion of the Council, by consensus of all members of the Council.
